Turkmenistan celebrates Novruz Day

Turkmenistan is getting ready to celebrate an important holiday called Novruz Bayramy, which is recognized internationally. In 2010, the United Nations declared March 21 as International Day of Novruz. They want people to celebrate this spring holiday to help bring peace between different groups of people and to show kindness and friendship.

Nowruz is a cultural tradition of many different peoples that is recognized by UNESCO as an important part of their heritage. In our country, this holiday celebrates the start of spring according to the solar calendar and is a national holiday. On important days, people have various traditions. One of them is the national event happening on March 20 this year. Our ancient ancestors thought that on this day, nature starts to wake up and a new farming season starts. It's the perfect time to plant seeds and trees. The best thing on the festive table is a dish made from young wheat sprouts. The recipe for this tasty dish is handed down from one family member to the next.

In the past, people cooked seeds before Novruz. Wheat seeds are cooked in water overnight. Soon, the coffee looks dark brown and tastes like a thick jam or jelly. Young wheat is cooked without adding sugar and tastes sweet after being cooked for a long time. The Turkmen people always celebrate Novruz Bayram with great excitement. Traditional national celebrations are held in a way that follows the rules and customs of our country. People from the country dress up and perform songs, dances, and traditional stories at spontaneous concerts.

The celebrations include folk singers, children on swings, and horse races. During the holiday, people usually wear new clothes, visit each other, give gifts, and try to forgive any past problems. Novruz is a happy spring holiday that brings people together and inspires them to be kind, peaceful, and creative. It also brings luck and success in their work.
