Magtymguly Turkmen State University hosted a ceremonial event titled “Masters – the Skilled Writers of History and Perpetual Mentors of Their Era,” dedicated to the 90th birthday of Anatoly Bushmakin, a candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences and a distinguished scholar. The event was attended by his students, professors, faculty members, and students of the university’s geography department.
Anatoly Grigorievich Bushmakin has been engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities at the university for over 20 years. He spearheaded the creation of the geological museum at the geography department in 2001. The museum now houses over 1,200 samples of various minerals, ores, and fossils. Among its unique exhibits are meteorites and projects like the “Köneürgenç” meteorite and the “Boýadag” slag volcano. The museum features several sections with rare natural specimens, geological phenomena, and displays about Turkmenistan’s nature and natural reserves.
During the event, Turkmenistan’s Hero, UNESCO National Commission Secretary General Chynar Rustemova, delivered a speech highlighting Anatoly Bushmakin’s significant contribution to the development of geological science and his active role in implementing UNESCO’s environmental programs. She also noted that the scholar was recently admitted as a member of the university’s UNESCO chair “Cultural Heritage: From the Past to the Future.”
The event included a video presentation about Anatoly Bushmakin’s decades-long career, along with performances by students from the university’s cultural center, “Melodies of Happiness.”
Attendees warmly congratulated the esteemed scholar. In his speech, Anatoly Bushmakin expressed gratitude for the opportunities created in the country for scientific endeavors and emphasized the importance of the mentor-apprentice tradition revived under the initiative of Hero Arkadag.
