Turkmenistan Tennis Federation Awarded Distinction for Remarkable Growth in Asia

The Turkmenistan Tennis Federation has received international recognition for its outstanding achievements and rapid growth in the field of tennis development. During the General Assembly of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) held in Hong Kong, the Turkmen federation was honored as one of the fastest-growing tennis organizations in the region. To commemorate this significant accomplishment, ATF leaders presented a distinction award to the Turkmen delegation.
This year’s ATF General Assembly brought together representatives from 45 national federations across Asia, who gathered to review the ATF’s 60-year history, discuss notable achievements, and outline future growth strategies for tennis in the region. Turkmenistan’s delegation took an active role in the assembly as a member of ATF’s Board of Directors, offering valuable proposals to encourage youth engagement in tennis and to expand the reach of tournaments across the region.
Notably, the president of Turkmenistan’s Tennis Federation also serves as ATF’s Vice-President, a role that enhances Turkmenistan’s active involvement in regional tennis administration. This recent distinction from the ATF is not the first acknowledgment of Turkmenistan’s dedication to tennis development. In prior years, the federation received commendation for hosting the Central Asia Tennis Championship for players under 12, an event praised for its excellent organization.
ATF President, alongside the President of the International Tennis Federation, visited Ashgabat earlier this year to evaluate the country's potential for further tennis development. Impressed by the facilities, they recognized the Ashgabat Olympic Complex’s tennis facility as among the top five globally, and in June, designated it as the "Training Center for Tennis in the Asian Region."
Turkmenistan’s athletes, benefiting from these world-class facilities, continue to excel in international competitions. This year, Turkmen players brought home a multitude of medals from tournaments in Tajikistan, Qatar, and Malaysia. In an unprecedented achievement, Turkmen youth players received invitations to compete in the regional qualifying rounds for the prestigious Roland Garros junior tournament.
This distinction from the ATF highlights the steady and impactful growth of tennis in Turkmenistan, underscoring the nation’s commitment to advancing the sport within Asia and globally.
