UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Concludes Central Asia Tour with Visit to Turkmenistan

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is currently on a tour of Central Asian countries, which includes visits to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan. His journey culminated in Turkmenistan after participating in the SCO Summit in Kazakhstan. During his official visit to Turkmenistan, Guterres plans to meet with the head of state and other senior government representatives. He will also familiarize himself with local projects aimed at combating climate change and engage with local activists.

A significant highlight of Guterres' visit was his participation in the inauguration of the "Mirap" building. This event was attended by heads of ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, as well as heads and staff of UN missions in the country and members of the media. During the opening ceremony, Guterres expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for their continuous support and assistance to the UN's efforts. He conveyed his confidence that the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations would continue to thrive dynamically across all priority areas.

Moreover, as part of his visit, Guterres will inaugurate the UN Central Office in Turkmenistan. This gesture underscores the strengthening relationship between Turkmenistan and the UN, highlighting the importance of ongoing and future collaborations in addressing global and regional challenges.
