Musa Zhalaev from Turkmenistan made his Olympic debut in Paris. He competed in the 100-meter freestyle. In the qualifying swim, the 21-year-old athlete clocked a time of 52.29 seconds, placing 61st among all participants and beating 18 rivals.
However, he finished fourth in the third heat of qualification, which unfortunately did not qualify him for the semifinals, as only the top 16 swimmers from all heats advanced.
The winner of the qualification was American Alexi Jack with a time of 47.57 seconds.
