Working visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation has finished

Recently, during a working visit to the Russian Federation, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a high-level informal meeting of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). About this report, Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

As a permanently neutral state and an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan actively contributes to strengthening mutually beneficial economic cooperation by implementing large-scale energy and logistics projects within the framework of the Commonwealth. The country places particular emphasis on enhancing transport and communication connectivity across the CIS region. As the initiator of the establishment of World Sustainable Transport Day, Turkmenistan consistently advocates for the development of the North–South and East–West international transport corridors passing through the territories of CIS countries. Initiatives aimed at transforming the Caspian Sea region into a major transport hub facilitate stronger trade relations among friendly states and promote access to the markets of South Asia and Europe.

Humanitarian and environmental issues also occupy an important place in Turkmenistan’s CIS agenda. The country actively participates in efforts to address the Aral Sea crisis and puts forward initiatives related to green diplomacy and climate change adaptation. The repeated designation of Turkmen cities as the “Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth” clearly demonstrates Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening friendship among peoples, preserving shared historical and cultural heritage, and promoting intercultural dialogue.

Relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation represent a clear example of a strategic partnership based on mutual respect and centuries-old traditions of friendship. In 2025, when the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality is widely celebrated, bilateral dialogue has reached a qualitatively new level. The visit of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Turkmenistan to participate in the International Forum for Peace and Trust became a significant event, confirming both countries’ dedication to further deepening cooperation.

Thus, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s participation in the high-level informal meeting of CIS Heads of State once again demonstrated Turkmenistan’s commitment to open dialogue and relations founded on mutual respect. The informal summit not only provided an opportunity to summarize the results of the concluding year but also laid the groundwork for new joint initiatives across various sectors. For Turkmenistan, as an associate member of the CIS, such platforms serve as an important instrument for advancing peace-building initiatives and constructive cooperation in the region.
