A new 5,000-seat building complex of the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute has been commissioned in Turkmenabat. The modern educational campus was inaugurated on September 1, Knowledge and Youth Day.

The opening ceremony was attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The new complex was constructed by a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

Covering an area of nearly 26 hectares, the complex includes academic buildings, an assembly hall, a library, a 1,000-seat cafeteria, sports facilities and six dormitory buildings with a total capacity of 2,000 students.

The academic buildings feature dozens of laboratories for chemistry, biology, physics, labor and technology, defectology and other disciplines. The complex also houses museums dedicated to history, archaeology and ethnography, as well as the plant and animal worlds.

The new library is designed to accommodate up to one million books and includes a 700-seat reading hall and a 100-seat electronic library.

Sports facilities at the complex include a football field and volleyball and basketball halls.

During the opening ceremony, the institute received several international certificates. These included certificates from Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University and UNICEF, a Letter of Appreciation from UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education, and a membership certificate from the International Association of Universities.

The new educational complex will further expand the institute’s academic, research and practical capacities for training future teachers and education specialists in Turkmenistan.
