Ashgabat Stage and Circus Venues Premiere New Productions Celebrating Turkmenistan’s 35th Independence Anniversary

In celebration of the upcoming 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, theaters and circuses across the nation are debuting a series of brand-new stage plays and performances on September 11, 12, and 13. According to Agamyrat Baltayev, Head of the Theaters and Entertainment Establishments Department at the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the new repertoire highlights the country's social, political, and cultural achievements, patriotism, and rich national heritage. The premiere schedule features key cultural productions across major venues in Ashgabat and regional theaters:

• Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre: Premieres «Jennet mukamy» (Melody of Paradise), a musical production inspired by National Leader Hero Arkadag's book Janly rowaýat. The play weaves together a story of love, devotion, and the historical legacy of the Turkmen carpet and the dutar along the Silk Road.

• Alp Arslan National Drama Theatre: Unveils a performance dedicated to the capital, drawing inspiration from the book Ak şäherim Aşgabat. The play depicts the historic resilience of the Turkmen people in rebuilding Ashgabat into a modern metropolis following the historic earthquake.

• Pushkin State Russian Drama Theatre: Features «Eşit meni» (Hear Me) by M. Kazakova, portraying the story of a young female designer named Ayperi and her professional journey during the Independence era.

• Turkmen State Puppet Theatre: Offers young audiences «Dostluk mukamy» (Melody of Friendship), an animated musical production centered on unity, mutual support, and nature.

• Mollanepes Student Theatre: Presents a youth-centered play drawing on literary works including Atda Wepa-da bar sapa-da and Türkmeniň döwletlilik ýörelgesi.

• Aman Gulmammedov State Drama Theatre (Arkadag City): Stages the drama «Agzybirlik rowaýaty» (Legend of Unity), inspired by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's book Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygy – parahatçylygyň we ynanyşmagyň aýdyň ýoly, showcasing unity and peaceful values.

• State Circus Venues: The State Circus of Turkmenistan and the Görogly State Equestrian Circus in Arkadag City are hosting special circus showcases, including «Behişti bedewler – şöhrat-şanymyz», featuring high-level equestrian arts.

Regional drama theaters in the Balkan, Dashoguz, Lebap, and Mary velayats are also launching premieres ranging from epic historical portrayals such as Sultan Jelaleddin and Oguz legends to modern romantic plays set in the Awaza National Tourist Zone.
