The upcoming opening of the Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway is a highlight for Turkmenistan in April. This modern highway is being built by Turkmen Autoban, a local company, with international quality control ensured by VCE Vienna Consulting Engineers. VCE's role is to guarantee the construction meets global standards.
This major road project aims to improve Turkmenistan's transport network by creating new corridors and integrating with regional and international systems. It also promotes private sector involvement in the economy.
The first section of the highway, Ashgabat-Tejen (203 km), opened in October 2021. The Tejen-Mary section's opening is expected to generate interest in neighboring Uzbekistan, bordering Turkmenistan's Lebap province.
