“The Role of Women in Modern Society: Enhancing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”

An international conference titled “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Enhancing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” has commenced in the “Awaza” National Tourist Zone.

The event brought together representatives of international organizations and the expert community to discuss key initiatives aimed at empowering women and advancing the global sustainable development agenda.

Opening the conference, Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, emphasized the importance of women’s active participation in social, economic, and public life.

She noted that strengthening international cooperation and exchanging best practices—particularly in the fields of healthcare, education, and social support—are essential prerequisites for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

It was highlighted that Turkmenistan is consistently implementing a comprehensive set of measures to enhance the role of women in society, including expanding access to high-quality healthcare services, supporting initiatives to protect motherhood and childhood, and promoting women’s leadership.

The conference will continue with thematic sessions focused on developing cooperation, introducing innovative approaches in social policy, and strengthening international collaboration.
