On Friday, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held an extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers using a digital system. During the session, he signed a decree granting pardons to convicted individuals. The President emphasized that the pardon is given to citizens who have sincerely repented for their crimes.
President of Turkmenistan highlighted that initiatives like these, aimed at releasing individuals from punishment, will continue. During the meeting, B. Gundogdyev, the Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Commission for Citizenship and Clemency Proposals under the President of Turkmenistan, reported on the Commission’s work regarding pardoning citizens who committed crimes, in honor of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Following the report, the President, in adherence to the noble tradition, signed a decree pardoning 736 convicted citizens of the country on Independence Day.
