The city of Arkadag has been awarded the W.I. Blinnikov Gold Medal by the Eurasian Patent Organization, recognizing its achievements in innovation and modern urban development.
Delegates of the EAPO Administrative Council’s 47th session visited Arkadag, touring its wide avenues, modern buildings, and innovative infrastructure. Built on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the “smart city” reflects the success of Turkmenistan’s policy to enhance living standards and adopt advanced technologies.
During the ceremony, EAPO Director Gennady Ivliev highlighted Arkadag as a global model of a “smart city,” noting its many previous international honors. The gold medal was presented to D. Orazov, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag.
Named after Viktor Ivanovich Blinnikov, founder and first president of the EAPO, the award honors major contributions to invention and patent development. This recognition symbolizes the continuation of urban reforms initiated by Hero Arkadag and successfully advanced under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Speakers also emphasized the growing importance of intellectual property and digital innovation in Turkmenistan’s development. Video materials presented during the event showcased Arkadag’s smart infrastructure and technological achievements.
