Working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to Azerbaijan

On October 7, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to Azerbaijan to attend the XII Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Gabala. This was reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

 

At the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center, Hero-Arkadag was warmly welcomed by President Ilham Aliyev. Before the opening of the summit, a joint photo of the OTS heads of state was taken. In his speech, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation and hospitality, noting that the OTS unites nations sharing a common history, culture, and values. Highlighted Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Turkic states in energy, transport, logistics, education, and culture.

 

Hero-Arkadag proposed organizing joint cultural events and announced the upcoming Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan. And also emphasized preserving traditional crafts such as carpet weaving and horse breeding.

 

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the participants to the International Forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, coinciding with the UN-declared “International Year of Peace and Trust – 2025.”

 

President Ilham Aliyev thanked Hero-Arkadag for his constructive proposals and valuable contribution to strengthening unity among Turkic nations.
