The Embassy of Malaysia in Ashgabat, together with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, recently welcomed travel industry professionals to an informative session titled “Experience Malaysia Healthcare.” The event took place at the Ish Nokady Coworking Centre, giving local agencies a closer look at Malaysia’s healthcare sector and tourism attractions ahead of two major national campaigns — the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
With the slogan “Healing Meets Hospitality,” MYMT 2026 positions Malaysia as a leading choice for medical travellers. Delegates learned about the country’s cutting-edge hospitals, skilled specialists, and personalised patient care, all complemented by a vibrant cultural landscape and natural beauty.
Speaking at the event, Malaysian Ambassador H.E. Mohd Suhaimi bin Ahmad Tajuddin emphasised the ease of travel between the two nations. Thanks to direct Ashgabat–Kuala Lumpur flights and visa-free entry for Turkmen citizens, visitors can combine treatment with sightseeing, shopping, and relaxation in one trip. Mrs. Gulshat Yazyevna, Deputy Head of the Tourism Department at Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Culture, also addressed participants, underlining the value of expanding tourism cooperation.
Nearly 30 travel agencies took part, discussing tailored tour concepts that integrate medical care with cultural and leisure activities. The programme provided a platform for future collaboration, aiming to boost tourism flows, enhance mutual understanding, and create new business opportunities between Malaysia and Turkmenistan.
