Gold and Silver Medals at the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad

Young Talents of Turkmenistan Achieve Success at International Mathematics Olympiad

 

STRUGA, NORTH MACEDONIA – From June 24 to 29, 2025, the 29th Balkan Youth Mathematics Olympiad was held in the city of Struga, Republic of North Macedonia. Gifted school students from Turkmenistan took part and achieved outstanding results, further elevating the international prestige of the country.

 

A total of 135 students from 23 countries participated in this prestigious competition. The event saw representatives from countries such as Azerbaijan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and others. The remarkable performance of Turkmen students stood out among the participants.

 

Representing Turkmenistan, six students from specialized secondary schools in Ashgabat took part in the Olympiad. The well-prepared team was led by Arslan Hojiyev, a mathematics teacher at the English-specialized School No. 3 in the city of Arkadag, and Gurbanmyrat Jelaletdinow, a mathematics teacher at the language-specialized School No. 87 in Ashgabat.

 

As a result, the Turkmen team earned an impressive total of six medals: 1 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze.

The success of Turkmen students in this high-level mathematics competition among youth from the Balkan region is a clear outcome of the country’s state policy focused on advancing the education system.

 

One of the team leaders, teacher Arslan Hojiyev of School No. 3 in Arkadag city, stated:

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Hero Arkadag and the Arkadagly Hero Serdar, ample opportunities have been created for young people to participate in international competitions with strong preparation. The great trust that our Honorable President places in youth inspires us, teachers, to strive even more.”

 

The achievements of these young participants go beyond medals; they are a testament to the development of international cooperation in education and the nurturing of young talent.

 

Turkmenistan’s youth continue to perform successfully on the global stage, raising the nation’s flag high with pride.
