President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan participated in the opening ceremony of a new glass production facility on Monday, located in an industrial complex in northern Ashgabat, as reported by official Turkmen media. Before the facility was officially commissioned, the President toured an exhibition that highlighted achievements in the construction and industrial sectors. The exhibition featured samples of domestically manufactured goods, ranging from construction materials to electronic components.
The newly opened plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and operates entirely using locally sourced raw materials, including quartz sand, dolomite, and limestone. It has a daily production capacity of 100 tons of glass containers. The technological process at the plant includes melting at temperatures reaching up to 1,500 degrees Celsius, molding, cooling, and automated quality control.
A fully equipped laboratory is also available at the facility, featuring instruments from leading global manufacturers. This laboratory conducts strength testing, geometric measurements, and load resistance analysis to ensure that the products meet international quality standards. The quality of the plant’s output is certified by Germany’s Horn Glass Industries, as well as Italy’s Vetromeccanica and Bottero. During the opening ceremony, the President presented the facility’s management with keys to new vehicles and specialized equipment.
The launch of the glass plant is expected to create hundreds of jobs, meet domestic demand for glass containers, and facilitate exports. The use of local raw materials will reduce production costs and enhance the competitiveness of the plant’s products. Before the facility's commissioning, the Head of State toured an exhibition showcasing achievements of the construction and industrial sector, featuring samples of domestically manufactured goods — ranging from construction materials to electronic components.
