New Areas of Turkmen–Tatar Cooperation Discussed in Ashgabat

The 10th meeting of the joint Turkmen–Tatar working group on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation was held at the “Ýyldyz” Hotel in Ashgabat. A delegation led by O. Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, arrived in Turkmenistan to take part in the event.

The strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan is based on deep historical ties, shared cultural heritage, and linguistic similarities. This cooperation is actively supported at the highest level and is consistently promoted through an effective mechanism — the joint working group.

The agenda of the meeting included reviewing the implementation of earlier agreements, carrying out proposals made at the previous session, and identifying new areas for cooperation. The heads of the working group expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations, built on mutual trust and understanding. Both sides emphasized their intention to fully utilize available opportunities and move forward with joint projects. Priority areas identified included trade and economy, oil and gas, energy, and industry. Cooperation prospects were also discussed in transportation and communications, IT, textile production, agriculture, environmental protection, science and education, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, culture, sports, and youth policy.

It was highlighted that Turkmenistan’s ongoing large-scale reforms, rapid economic diversification and digitalization, as well as its considerable export potential, open vast opportunities for expanding cooperation with Tatarstan. The implementation of joint projects in various fields will be mutually beneficial.
