350 Turkmen Students Start Their Malaysian Journey

For many Turkmen families, 2025 has become a milestone year as 350 young students prepare to begin their university studies in Malaysia. The Embassy of Malaysia in Ashgabat, together with Future Ed Services (So Pandai) and Education Malaysia, hosted an orientation session called “Malaysia, Here We Come!” to guide students and parents before departure.

Held at Ish Nokady Coworking Centre, Arkach Business Centre, the event was designed to ease the transition into a new academic and cultural environment. From Malaysia’s historical background and diverse traditions to its delicious cuisine and student life, the briefing painted a vivid picture of what awaits the new arrivals.

In his address, H.E. Mohd Suhaimi bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, applauded the students’ achievements and reminded them of their role as future ambassadors of Turkmenistan abroad. He emphasised Malaysia’s reputation for offering high-quality, affordable education in a safe and welcoming setting, encouraging students to seize the opportunities that come with living in such a vibrant multicultural country.

The presence of Turkmen alumni was particularly inspiring. Their heartfelt stories of study abroad — navigating new cultures, excelling in academics, and exploring Malaysia’s diverse landscapes — reassured both students and parents that challenges can be turned into rewarding experiences. Alumni also offered practical advice on adjusting to daily life, from managing coursework to enjoying Malaysia’s unique festivals.

The practical benefits of studying in Malaysia were also underlined: direct flights between Ashgabat and Kuala Lumpur and visa-free entry make it easier for students to stay connected with their families while pursuing their education.

For Ahal’s young generation, this wave of student admissions represents more than just academic success. It symbolises an opening to the wider world — a chance to build skills, confidence, and friendships that will last a lifetime. The Embassy of Malaysia reaffirmed its ongoing support, ensuring that students will never feel alone as they begin this exciting new journey.
