The Third session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum

On April 29 and 30, 2024, the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan was held in Doha, Qatar. This was reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.

In the forum, the Turkmenistan delegation highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable economic development in Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and Arab countries. They emphasized that trade and industry, transport and energy, and the environment are priority areas for cooperation in various sectors of the economy.

During the forum, a meeting was held with the head of the department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. They also drew attention to the importance of exchanging visits at the highest level. Additionally, they stated that the development of bilateral relations would benefit from holding cultural days for the two peoples and the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatar Commission.

Since Turkmenistan gained its independence, there has been an increase in mutual visits between officials of Qatar and Turkmenistan. This reflects the desire of both governments to enhance their cooperation in various fields of common interest such as politics, economics, trade, culture, and sports. The two countries have ratified a total of 17 agreements and memoranda of understanding in these areas.
