Turkmenistan is preparing a new National Tuberculosis Control Strategy for 2026-2030

During the visit of the Technical Advisory Mission from the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization to Turkmenistan, experts laid the groundwork for the new National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Control for 2026-2030. The five-day mission was led by Askar Yedilbayev, the regional adviser to the WHO bureau. This was reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

 

As part of the visit, mission delegates met with representatives of the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan to present the findings from the review of the National Tuberculosis Control Plan for 2021-2025. This review was conducted by a WHO/Europe expert group under the leadership of Askar Yedilbayev. Additionally, expert Mikhail Volik introduced a draft roadmap for developing the upcoming National Tuberculosis Control Plan for 2026-2030.

 

The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garriev, the Directorate of the Centers for Infectious Diseases, medical institutions in Ashgabat and Akhal velayat, the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, and the Coordination Committee of Turkmenistan.

 

Furthermore, the WHO delegation held discussions with the Minister of Health of Turkmenistan, focusing on exchanging experiences with experts from the European region.
